Goodbye razor, hello laser.

Let’s face it, shaving is annoying, messy, and time consuming. You could be living in a world without shaving, stubborn ingrown hairs, and painful razor burns.

How does LHR work?

The light from our laser is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and this energy is converted to heat which results in thermal damage to the hair follicle. As hair in the active state of growth contains higher amounts of pigmentation, actively growing hair is more likely to respond than hair in the other stages of growth. For some treated hair follicles, delayed regrowth of the hair may occur instead of permanent destruction, while it is possible that your hair may not respond at all. Treated hair that does grow back is usually thinner and lighter.

Are you a candidate?

In order to have a successful treatment, hair color and skin type matter. Darker hair that can be seen against the skin is important because there needs to be pigment for the laser to target. Those with lighter hair colors such as gray, blonde, red, and white may not receive as an effective treatment since the laser cannot pick up those colors.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair has 3 different growth cycles and needs to be caught in the “active growth phase” for the procedure to be effective. LHR sessions are typically spaced out 6-8 weeks apart to ensure they’re catching this phase as not all hairs in an area grow at the same time. Hair grows at different rates, for different areas, for different people. Typically, 4-6 treatments are necessary for optimal results.

Will it hurt?

There is minimal discomfort, but pain tolerance varies patient to patient. The device uses a cooling crystal to cool the skin down and minimize discomfort for every pulse.

Before your appointment…

Make sure to arrive freshly shaven. Make sure that the skin is clean and free of any self-tanners or lotions. Do not wax, tweeze, or use hair removal creams 4-6 weeks prior to treatment for best results. It is important to avoid sun exposure 2 weeks prior to and after your appointment.
